The California College Guidance Initiative
About the California College Guidance Initiative
CaliforniaColleges.edu is managed by the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI), a legislatively authorized service provider to California public school districts, as established in California Education Code Section 60900.5. The organization works to smooth the path to college and career for all California students, especially those who have been underrepresented in higher education. CCGI removes obstacles to student success and helps create a clearer pathway between K-12 and higher education through a combination of data-driven tools and student-focused resources and by building districts’ capacity to manage and use student data.

CCGI staff work hand-in-hand with our Partner Districts to identify transcript data misalignment, improve transcript data in their student information system, implement clear transcript data standards and best practices, and integrate helpful tools into guidance practices and instructional time. By providing ongoing support and training opportunities, we help ensure that improvements are sustainable, so that the benefits are felt for years to come.
About CCGI’s Relationship to the Cradle-to-Career Data System
CaliforniaColleges.edu is also a crucial component of the Cradle-to-Career (C2C) Data System’s college planning and application tools. These tools are used by students, families, and educators to streamline the college and financial aid processes and monitor student progress. The long-term goal for CaliforniaColleges.edu is to provide the infrastructure through which the C2C Data System will streamline the high school-to-college segment of the educational pipeline.
